  • With today’s assignment, you will be doing some review of the three types of Inheritance as well as some Punnett Square and Pedigree practice to get ready for the quiz tomorrow. We are not using Nearpod this week. You will download this PDF to notability, complete it, and resubmit it. (It is also attached to the GC assignment) I have included directions for how to do this in Google Classroom in case you forgot. Be careful to fill out everything as accurately and specifically as you can.
  • Watch this video I made to show you how to fill out the Pedigree from last Friday. I would like almost all of you to watch it unless you were one of the very few students who got a 10/10 on the assignment). Below is a link to the genetics vocabulary Quizlet with a few added words from the last week

  • Please open This PDF   in Notability (it is also found in Google Classroom as always) Read it carefully and answer all questions and fill out all tables. This is a new topic where we begin to look at traits for which there is a lot more variation than 2 or 3 options. We will also review some basic types of graphs and when they are useful in anticipation of tomorrow’s assignment where we graph our class height data. Height is an example of a trait that has continuous variation.

Product for today: Complete the PDF in Notability (use text boxes when possible so I can easily read your answers and ideas) Read all directions carefully. It is possible this assignment may take a little more than 30 minutes, but tomorrow’s assignment should be shorter.

  • Remember last week when you provided me with your height data in cm? I compiled the data and today you are going to use it to make a graph to show the variation in the trait of height among 8th graders at Cal Young as well as complete a short reading on what scientists know about the genetics of height. All of this is included in this PDF.

Product for Today: Complete the PDF  as neatly and carefully as possible and turn in by Friday, May 15th at 12:00 pm. There is some graphing, analyzing the graph and a short reading to mark the text.

You don’t have school tomorrow. It is the midterm grading day so do an extra careful job on this assignment:)

Have a great day off! Unless you are behind in which case get caught up!
