Continental drift-the continents had once formed a single landmass before breaking apart and drifting to their present locations.
Sea-floor spreading-lithospheric evolution that holds that the ocean floors are spreading outward from vast underwater ridges.
Plate tectonic theory-the earth’s crust is broken up into at least a dozen rigid plates that move independently of one another. (7-8 major plates)
