Bee the Change

We are facing a serious issue with the bee population declining at a rate of 20% per year. This is important because 1/3 of what we eat and drink requires pollination by bees. Our food supply will drastically change if we lose the bees, so we must come together and fight the good fight for our little pollinating friends!

Here’s a few ways that you can help!

How to help the bees when shopping at the store:

1. Buy local and organic! This way you know where your food comes from ‐ that it has been grown in a sustainable fashion, and you are eating seasonally.

2. Buy local, raw honey ‐ the honey you buy directly sends a message to beekeepers about how they should keep their honey.

3. Buy bee products: Burt’s Bees beauty care, beeswax candles, various supplements, amongst others.

How to help the bees at home:

1. Plant bee‐friendly flowers and flowering herbs in your garden and yard that bloom successively over the spring, summer and fall seasons.

2. Don’t use chemicals and pesticides to treat your lawn and garden.

3. Let Congress know what you think and sign this petition to tell the EPA they must STOP using bee killing pesticides! Sign Pesticide Action Network’s Petition:   http://action.panna.org/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=6547
