Today we did a lab on convection currents using our convection tubes and some ice, hot water and a punk stick. We observed the smoke as it traveled through our convection tubes and its relationship to the hot water and/or ice. This was also an assessment on how students use make observations and predictions. I purposefully used hot water, rather than a candle to see if students would “call” me on my mistake. No one actually said anything and tomorrow I will solicit responses on whether or not anyone noticed this, but did not speak up!

Be sure to check the NOAA site or the local news on the earthquake that happened and the tsunami watches that were posted for some of the Oregon Coast.
