Posted by ligon_r in General Posts, How To's, Report Cards, Synergy

Synergy Report Cards Simplified –
by Regina Ligon, McCornack Elementary

1. Log into Synergy.

2. On Home Page, check Preferences.
a. Make sure Show Notifications is checked.

3. Click on Report Card tab. Choose Assign Student Template
a. Default or ELD 2013-14
b. Jenny will email you a list of students that are actively being served.

4. Click on Report Card tab. Choose Student Page
a. Make sure Show Inactive is checked so that students who have left don’t show up
b. Classic versus Wizard

5. Create a Comment Bank.
a. Filter plus Add New Comment – must do one for ELD and one for all others
b. Create one comment and then Save. Create 2nd comment and then Save. And so on.
c. Do not use Spanish Translation as it is not accurate
1. Idea: Create comments in Spanish. Copy and paste each into Google Translate. Email both English and Spanish versions to Reina. Do this week to give her enough time.
d Start and End date can be used to separate comments by semester
e. Swap Tags (name and pronoun placeholders)
1. <> demonstrates excellent leadership skills in our class.
2. <> needs to work on <> math facts.

6. Click on Report Card tab. Choose Mass Assign Comments.

7. Grade Book is not fully integrated yet with Synergy. Use at your own risk.

8. Click on Report Card tab. Choose Report Card Matrix for classwide comments.
a. Will have to do this twice – once for ELD students and once for all others

9. Click on Report Card tab. For Individual Student Grading, choose Students. Double click on each individual student.
a. Put in grades.
b. Can do letter tab letter rather than pull down menus if you wish
c. Enter Days Present — you will get this number from the Elementary Grading Enrollment Days report that Cheryle will email to each teacher and you must enter it for each student. Days Absent and Days Tardy will auto fill.
d. 1st Semester Comments – click edit
e. Different kinds of SAVE – save often
f. Viewing Report Cards – will view only in English, even if you have selected print in Spanish
g. When finished with a report card, click Mark all complete.

10. From Report Card Home Page:
a. Click View Report Cards
b. Choose language – Spanish or English.
c. Click Save Language Setting.

11. Call school secretary and let her know that you are ready to print. WAIT!! – your secretary must run a process to update the attendance days absent/tardy FIRST before you print.

12. To print them all: On the View Report Card screen, click Generate Class Report Cards to print the entire class.

13. To print one at a time: Click on View to the left of the student’s name. This will create a pdf. Click the printer icon or chose Print from the File drop down menu.
