After and Before School Support

Announcements No Comments

Beginning September 30, 2019, students my come, at will, on Mondays from 3:40-4:15 for math class support. I will be inviting certain students in based on academic progress and responsibility for learning. I can do mornings by appointment only. Any student who shows up without prior arrangements will have to come back Monday afternoon or make a morning appointment. I know this change limits my office hours, so come to me if you need additional supports. I can find other solutions.

Best,

Mrs. Topize

Testing Retakes

Announcements No Comments

If any student does not show mastery on any test in math class, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND coming for support and retaking the test. Here’s some tips to remember:

  • Schedule with me, in advance, to come in for support
  • Complete practice problems
  • Study math notes
  • Use Illustrative Mathematics online for support
  • Use Khan Academy for learning videos and practice problems
  • Join homework club
  • Retake the test before or after school within 2 weeks of initial test

The following form with the completed actions is required in order to be given the opportunity to retake assessments. Test Make Up Requirements for Math

iPad Expectations

EXPECTATIONS for iPads:

  1. iPads only go home, if students need them for homework. (iPads must be at school and CHARGED for work in their classes every day.  There are no loaner iPads. Therefore, if students are unable to charge iPads at home, then the privilege may be restricted.)
  2. Breakage, loss, or any other issues need to be reported immediately to a staff member as soon as possible. (Mr. Schiff and/or Mr. Henderson are key iPad managers; Again. No loaner iPads.)
  3. Keyboards are to remain attached to iPads at all times unless iPad is being used for photos. (We do not want the keyboards to get broken or lost.)
  4. iPads are 4j property. (They are to be used for school purposes. Students may not download apps or alter the “CY apps image”. Student iPads can be checked at any time by teachers and/or admin. If a teacher suspects inappropriate use, administration and/or Mr. Schiff should be advised immediately.)
  5. The CY staff will manage a system for warnings/redirections/iPad misuse.  (multiple infractions of misuse will lead to parent involvement and/or administrative action)
