The Solar Car project is underway. Students are working hard on actual size drawings of all; the necessary parts of their solar car including a top, bottom and side view. They are also answering questions about why they made the decisions that they did. Groups are progressing well in most cases and supporting each other. Next week we will be getting into the building and refining stages, added axels, gears, and a motor to the chassis. At first we will test how straight the car rolls and how far it goes without any motor. The roll down test scores will be recorded for all to see. Next as motors are added, we will test the cars with batteries in a hallway speed test. We are looking for times of 6-7 seconds for the 20 meter track. If you want more information check out the EWEB Solar Challenge Website. Questions?? Send me an e-mail or catch me before or during class.
