PSA #1

PSA#1 (Individual Project) – Students learn how to make a Public Service Announcement using only pictures, no video footage. After lecture and multiple examples of student work, students brainstormed to pick topics for their PSAs. Students must develop the PSA with detailed documentation as follows, from start to finish. Content will be researched using a variety of proven sources, and images will be collected from various online and offline sources as well.

PSA Topics

Students will use Adobe Photoshop to prepare images – size must be 800×600 pixels or 1026×768 pixels for optimal production using iMovie. Students are encouraged to use text screens to enhance their message, and an audio track must be included. PSAs are to be at one of the following lengths: 30 sec., 45 sec., or 60 sec.

Students will be graded on these assignment posts and in the standard prescribed assignment posting format on their ePortfolios. (Posting format is on my instructional blog):

– Elevator Speech: Narrative paragraph(s) describing the PSA, intent/message, audience, and sources of content. (5 points)

– PSA Script & Images: Scene by scene set-up, and detailed description of content and flow. (10 points)

– PSA Production – Rough Cut: Using iMovie, content is assembled and edited forpresentation – streamed from Vimeo. (20 points)

 

– PSA Edits: Students take peer evaluation feedback and create an edits list that will be applied to their Final Cut (5 points)

Final Cut

First I picked my PSA topic out of my 5 top picks. I narrowed that down to 3 the finally 1, World hunger. Then i created a elevator speech on World hunger using word docs . After I did that I uploaded that on to my portfolio. Next I started my world hunger script that organizes and labeled scenes for my rough cut. The script had facts about my topic. After I finished my script I uploaded to my portfolio.Then I picked pictures that wood go with my topic. Then i started my rough cut using the script layout on Imovie. In that I added facts pictures and the facts. I uploaded that into Vimeo and my portfolio. I showed 7 people my rough cut and the gave e feed back and stuff to edit. I wrote my edits down on a word doc and uploaded that to my portfolio. Then I edited my rough cut making my Final Cut and uploaded that to my portfolio and Vimeo.

I think I did a good job and i think my PSA turned out well.
