Dear Families,

Welcome to our fourth week of school. The students, all 31 of them, are learning to live and work together in a small area.

Our schedule is full with our new reading novel, Dear Mr. Henshaw, and the Treasure basal on Mondays, science lessons on Tuesday and Thursday, with our hands work with the Land and Water Unit. We’re gearing up with multiplication in math, learning about the “properties” or rules of math, zero property, identity property, commutative property and soon the distributive property. Students are working on reviewing how to tell time with an analog clock.

Our specialist time for these nine weeks are Monday, Tues. and Thurs. from 10:45-11:45am. We also get an extra music or pe class on Wednesday. Our library time is on Friday from 12:45 to 1:30 with help from Lisa and Dana. If you would like to help out in the library or teach an art activity, that would be welcomed. Some of the students get additional classes in speech, and English language learning. As you can see it’s a busy and productive week.

We also have helpers from the UO in our class. You’ve met Yenran Wang from Chine and we will welcome Rosanna Ling and Kevin VanLoo, an Ell studetn.

Please come to the Curriculum night in rm 4 from 6-7pm to see and share what the 4th grade experience is like.
