Homework Expectations

Math Practice (CW/HW) Expectations:

  1. Label problem set (top of page) and each problem (in left margin).
  2. P! –Write problem (could include: numbers, operations, key facts to help solve, diagrams, pictures, tables, graphs, etc.)
  3. W! – Show work to explain answer – math reasoning. Show any calculations that you used a calculator to figure out. Get help if needed (CPM homework help; teacher outside of class; parent; study team)
  4. C! – Correct, fix and enhance errors. Use cpm.org homework help; parents, peers, in class (we review all in class) – BLUE PEN to show errors and fixed mistakes!

Homework should be completed by the next class period unless otherwise stated or posted. Please complete all homework and in-class practice in pencil. Space out your work and clearly label assignment title, problem numbers and communicate your work and reasoning with calculations, equations, diagrams, algorithms and words. This math practice will be reinforced daily in class. Making mistakes and learning from your mistakes is what learning is all about! Students are encouraged to seek help from others in class, relatives, tutors, cpm.org and me for help with homework and concepts not understood in class. If you are not sure what to do, check the glossary, visit cpm.org, use other online resources or consult others.   If you are still not sure, make an educated guess. If there are issues or problems with homework – please let me know outside of class – email works great!
