Welcome 2011-2012 Students

I hope everyone had an opportunity to rejuvenate, and play at least a little bit this summer. I’m excited for the coming year. and look forward to meeting new students and reconnecting with CY 7th and 8th graders. My courses and resources can be found on this blog, and I encourage students and parents to visit this site regularly. Students can also access the 4J District iPortal site where my students post their assignments and can check for feedback and grades.

Check Out Student Videos

Students in my Period 1 Digital Media class have created orientation videos for incoming 6th graders. They can be viewed on our CY Vimeo Channel here.

Moodling Around

I’ll be showing colleagues 4J’s WordPress MU blogging opportunities and the iPortal site today during our staff development inservice. These are two excellent utilities that really do deliver. Fun times ahead!

iPortal Course Site

I am now using the 4J iPortal Course site for all of my courses. Students need to LOGIN using their 4J username and password to check in daily. Weekly class activities, assignments and due dates, grades, samples of student work, and other important class and general CY information is accessed here.

Students are expected to upload their assignments to the iPortal site unless specified otherwise. All students in my classes have been instructed on how to do this. The iPortal site is a secure site to ensure privacy, and can be accessed from school, home, and virtually anywhere students have access to the Internet and a Web Browser.
