There are so many resources you can explore about the elements, atomic structure, the history of the atom. I’ve collected a few here for you.
- You have a NOVA app on your iPads that allows you to explore any element and “build” an atom for that element. You can also watch any part of the NOVA Hunting the elements video that you want to see again
- photographic periodic table of elements
- interactive periodic table
- Here is a link to a periodic table with videos about each of the elements
- Here is a song by Tom Lehrer about all the elements and another song about the elements found by Erika K.
- Here is the “Atom’s Family” Powerpoint I showed in class
- Bill Nye ATOMS clip
- This is an interactive explanation of atomic structure (It does not work on iOS devices like iPads and iPhones.
- Here is a powerpoint presentation that presents a brief the history of the atom
- You have a Khan Academy app on your iPad. Look up atomic structure there and check out this resource. (a great one for high school and beyond!)
- The book BOMB By Steve Sheinkin which is an OBOB book this year is a fascinating account of the building of the atomic bomb
