Renewable Energy Research Project

After hearing the presentation on Global Warming and it’s causes and effects, you are ready to deepen your understanding of renewable energy. Please visit the following website http://blogs.4j.lane.edu/energysources/ created by our very own librarian, Sam to select resources and then answer at least 5 of the following questions. Please type your answers in full sentences and paragraphs as a Pages document that you save to your backpack and turn in at the end of class on Thursday, June 6. You may work on it at home as much as you like. Be sure you are logged into the internet and that you log out of Edmodo two times so no one can access your account. Remember to delete your documents in Pages.
After examining the options, you will choose one renewable energy source to research (Coal and oil and gas are not renewable, so don’t choose them): Then read articles and watch videos so that you can answer at least 5 of the following questions. PLease make a note of which question you are answering and be sure to write in your own words. DO NOT CUT AND PASTE. For extra credit you may answer all of the questions or compare two forms of energy.

1. Where does the source of energy come from?
2. In what way is the source of energy renewable?
3. Explain how the source of energy is converted into a usable form of energy by humans?
4. What type of equipment or technology is needed to convert the renewable energy source into usable energy?
5. How expensive is it to convert this type of energy into a usable form?
6. In what parts of the world is this type of energy used and what are the geographical features of this area that make it a good location
7. Describe an environmental benefit of using this form of energy.
8. Describe a negative consequences of using this form of renewable energy.
9. How is this source of energy part of the solution for global warming and climate change?

Here is a link to the powerpoint I showed in class.
