Breakfast of Champions Themes [UPDATED]

Here are the tentative themes for the remaining Breakfasts of Champions. Tentative because we are open to suggestions if you have a good one!

  • 11/30 – Always engaged (stays focused, participates in class, etc.)
  • 1/30 – Exceeds expectations (regularly goes above and beyond expectations on classwork)
  • 2/27 – Always looking out for others
  • 3/23 – Eternal optimist (looks on the bright side of things, brings positive energy into the classroom)
  • 4/30 – Greatest growth (academically and otherwise)
  • 5/31 – Strong finish

9/18-9/22 Homeroom Schedule

This week’s homeroom sets up expectations for the rest of the year’s homeroom schedule. 

Monday: Bus safety video (9:05-9:15)

Tuesday: Cougar Pride and Celebrations overview video

Wednesday: No homeroom

Thursday: Tier II vocabulary, word wall, article overview

Friday: Academic Day overview, i.e. how to check StudentVUE, Brummet’s blog, and use agenda planner

PBIS Calendar

Pay special attention to dates for Cougar Pride Raffles, Breakfast of Champions and other PBIS-related events. The first month of homeroom has a special schedule that you’ll want to keep an eye on as well.

Homeroom Schedule

MondaysConnections Days – Students and teachers focus on housekeeping and class building exercises.  Students also set weekly goes in ePortfolios.

TuesdaysExpectations Review – Students view a video, slideshow, or other announcement on a given topic and WEB Leaders facilitate discussions using a series of guided questions.

WednesdaysNo homeroom

ThursdaysIndividual Reading Time – Students read a pre-selected article, which incorporates the week’s tier II academic vocabulary. Teachers check in one-on-one with two or three students. Articles will be in staff mailboxes Thursday morning.

FridaysAcademic Day – Students reflect on weekly goals set on Monday in their ePortfolios. Teachers check student planners and students visit Student Vue.
