9th Grade: The past few days 9th graders have prepared and given their presentations on Aboriginal Mythology and oral traditions. We also took a look at another area of Oceania that had a complex set of oral traditions- that of the Rapa Nui Moi on Easter Island. We watched a fascinating documentary and made some connections throughout Oceania.

HW: Finish Mythology Posters

9th Grade (afternoon): Today we read “Marngit” and “U308” in our packet- two unique stories from Australia. While there were not written by an Aboriginal writer, they DO serve to showcase the challenges aboriginal people had with the first British Visitors. We did a simulation to help feel what such a communication break down may have felt like.

HW: Finish questions on U308.

11th Grade LOTA

We took a quiz on “The Minister’s Black Veil”. Students began, worked on, and finished a life size symbol of Mr Hooper. We presented our most interesting and significant findings. If you were out- come in today for quiz make up- last day for this!

HW: Read and annotate for authorial choices and Gothic elements in “The Tell Take Heart”.
