9th Grade (C and D) : Today I introduced out Australian Unit with some background on the Aboriginal Australians. We took notes and then discussed the power of reading Sacred Texts- especially from a biased perspective. We watched an important clip of the modern issues of tourism climbing the Sacred Mountain, Uluru, and put this into perspective as we read “The Beginning of Life” in our packets- the sacred creation myth. We will continue to discuss the importance of interacting sensitively to the materials in class. We went over the first 30 slides in class: Australia Day One 2011-9

9th Grade (9A): We finished up notes on Gender roles and began a found poem assignment on “Dreaming the Earth” Found Poem, which is our HW for the night as well (Due Monday for 9A)
11th Grade: We turned in our Portfolios! Whoo Hoo!!! We discussed our short story and I reviewed Archetypes in YGB as well as symbols. Students began a storyboard for the difficult text. PP: Young Goodman and Archetypes
