We reviewed Whitman notes. After we held a quick discussion of “I saw in Louisiana a Live Oak Growing”: note connections with transcendental view of nature as well as metaphor. Annotate according to Whitman’s style. We had good discussion over this short poem. We read and annotated “This Compost” and discussed the three sections in relation to the time period, literary style, and meaning.
Homework: Complete “This Compost” poem and please read and annotate “Song of Myself”. Bring in 3-5 interesting facts on Lincoln.
9th Grade
Welcome back! I introduced the second spiritual belief system that comes up in our novel: “Buddhism”. Please note the PowerPoint if you were absent. Japan Day 3. We also watched a clip on Zazen Buddhist Meditation.
Homework: Read to page 95; complete assignment #2, complete Chart #2.
