11th Grade (Section 12)
We reviewed our Emily Dickinson passage analysis with examples. Please correct your analysis if youa re unhappy with your grade or want the extra practice. After we held a quick discussion of “I saw in Louisiana a Live Oak Growing”: note connections with transcendental view of nature as well as metaphor. Annotate according to Whitman’s style. We had good discussion over this short poem. We read and annotated “This Compost” and discussed the three sections in relation to the time period, literary style, and meaning.
Homework: Over break, read and annotate “Song of Myself”; extra credit “This Compost” poem.
