9th Grade (Section 12)
Groups shared their assignment #1 in literature circles and I stamped the yellow chart #1- we completed a discussion on the first section of The Samurai’s Garden, relooked at diction (word choice) and selected assignment #2 on our chart. After, I introduced a lesson on Ikebana, positive/negative space and Japanese gardens.
Homework: Read Pages 54-70 and start thinking about Assignment #2 (Due after break!)
11th Grade (Section 11-13)
Today we presented posters and concluded our talk (well- kinda) on transcendentalism. I say “kinda” because Whitman was a true transcendentalist and his work clearly reflects this democratic expansive mind set. We took notes on style: Whitman Intro as well as reviewed note taking strategies.
Homework: Read and annotate the article : “Poet celebrated…” as well as the poem on page 6 of packet “I saw in Louisiana…”
