9th Grade (All Classes)
After a short reading quiz, we discussed the diction (word choice) that is used to create tone in the novel. If youw ere out please come in during lunch this week to take the quiz. After, I gave a quick lesson on Emu Cards (wish cards) and how wish cards are used outside of Shinto Temples and also given during the New Year. We spent the last 20 minutes of class designing our own wish cards.
Homework: Read to page 53 in the book. Assignment #1 and Chart #1 both due next class. Wish Cards are due on Friday.
11th Grade Lota (Section 12)
We completed a chart comparing quotes from “Civil Disobedience” to current events and recent political movements. After discussion, groups selected an article and created a poster- annotating how our three transcendental essays applied (either for or against) the concepts in the article. We will present these next class.
