9th Grade (Section 12)
We reviewed our discussion on Shinto and read an article to complete our background information. Students grouped up, practiced their Shinto Myth skits and then presented them to the class. After, we began the article “Home was a Horse Stall”- a telling story of what life was like for Japanese Americans during the war.
Homework: Complete the article with margin notes paraphrasing the big concept in each paragraph.
11th grade IB LOTA (Section 11/13)
Welcome to Transcendentalism! Be one with nature! Today we reviewed the nature walk assignment and read Emerson’s excerpt from “Nature”. Groups paraphrased the essay and then began their found poem uniting words and phrases from their nature walk journal with Emerson’s views. TranscendGerrity2
Homework: Complete Found poem (up to 5pts ec for decorations). Read “Self Reliance” and annotate with comments, questions, and content.
