9th Grade Global Literature

Students turned in their Dot Painting. They are due net Tuesday so if you are not done be sure to get paint or come into class after school to finish. We completed our Aboriginal notes and discussed the emergence of European explorers to Australia. Class discussion consisted of 1.) What would the British wish to change? 2.) How would they go about doing this? and 3.) What effects would this have on Aboriginals both then and in the future? We completed an in-class simulation where students felt first hand what culture clash may feel like. After, we did a close reading of “Marngit” and went over the questions as well as the handout (Grey Theme Chart)

HOMEWORK: Read “U308” and complete the theme chart for both stories. Absent? GET THE CHART!

11th Grade LOTA

Today we completed our “The Black Cat” skits, reviewed the life of Edgar Allan Poe and discussed elements of suspense. Students should be aware that use of caesura (dash), sentence structure, and repetition all support suspenseful writing. Please indicate five examples of each in “The Tell Tale Heart”. Students also took an in-class quiz on the story. See me for details.
