Do you need a food handler card or a copy?  There are some important changes on the Oregon Food Handler website.If you took the Food Handler’s test before June 10th, 2023, and your card has not expired and you need a new copy, you can do one of the following: 

• Call 541-682-4519 at Lane County and leave a voice message with the following information: Full Name, Date of Birth, and Current email address

• Email: lanecountyfoodhandlers@lanecountyor.gov and Request your FH Card giving the same information … Full Name, Date of Birth, and Current email address

Where/How to create a resume

1. From your Naviance account go to “About Me” and choose “My Stuff” and then click on Resume. Follow the resume building directions carefully, or

2. Use Google Docs. Click on “New” in your Google Drive and scroll to “Google Docs” and click on the arrow at the right and click on “From a Template” which should give you a list of templates to scroll through and find resume — there are several versions to choose from. Highlight and type over the different sections to add your personal information and experiences.

Remember! Make sure your resume is accurate and has proper spelling and punctuation.

Work Study Positions Now Open
Incoming Juniors and Seniors can apply to work at Adams, César Chávez, and McCornack elementary schools. This is a great opportunity to earn a paycheck and receive class credit.

Besides being either a Junior or Senior, students must be at least 16 years old, with a GPA minimum of 2.0, and have good attendance. Work hours take place during the regular school day. A student’s class schedule may change to accommodate the Work Study job. Interested students can drop off their resumes with Mary Beth at the CHS School-to-Career Office in the STEM building or email her at elam_m@4j.lane.edu.

In addition to gaining entry level office skills and honing their professional interpersonal relationships on the job, students will study in the Job Savvy Workbook and learn employment foundations that will serve them throughout their working life. Homework is posted in Canvas just like any other course. This class is graded, and students earn 0.5 Other Subject credit.

Bright Star Care

Fresenius Medical Care is accepting applications for entry level Dialysis Technician. It’s a paid three month training, plus 3 months “on the floor”. Applicants must be 18 with a HS diploma. Lane County Health has a GREAT opportunity right now! They have a Medical Assistant Apprentice posting on their Career Pages. The minimum requirements are only: on-the-job training, high school diploma or GED, no experience required, pay is $17.27/hr. to start. This is a 1.0 FTE position and the program will last approximately 28 weeks. Successful completion of the Apprentice program and the national Medical Assistant certification test, in conjunction with remaining an employee in good standing, will qualify Medical Assistant Apprentices to apply for the Medical Assistant 1 classification and more pay! Lane County Fair is Hiring for this summer!
July 19th-23rd, 4 Unique Temporary Jobs: Ticket Sellers, Ticket Takers:
Sell and scan tickets at the Lane County Fair admission gates! (training to be provided).

Concert Ushers: Greet and scan in guests to the concert each night of the Fair!

  2. Grocery stores, markets, restaurants, and other businesses have a need for bright and motivated high school students. Hours: primarily evenings and weekends. Pay: minimum wage to start.
  3. Once you have a job, you can use it for Work Experience credit in the Other Subjects area on your transcript. Earn .5 credit for every 130 verified work hours for a maximum of 2.0 credit. Credit earned is Pass/No Pass. Contact Mary Beth, the School-to-Career Coordinator at elam_m@4j.lane.edu.
