There are many local, national and international issues today in which human activity causes environmental damage. Write a few paragraphs describing the impact of one of these issues on the environment and decide whether you think the government should be involved in restricting the activity as it did when prospectors washed away whole hillsides during the California Gold Rush. (eg. coal trains through Eugene, plastic bag ban, strip mining, dams for hydroelectric power, logging, climate change, toxic waste dumping, grazing on public lands, ATVs/Ski Mobiles/Jet Skis, field burning) Turn into basket in the classroom on January 8.
In addition to using our library webpage and Gale and OSLIS resources, here are some links for the assignment. If you find a good one on your own e-mail it to me so I can add it to this list.
