To help eliminate some of the confusion and chaos surrounding apps for the iPads, we are setting up an app vetting procedure.
At the district level, we have a 20-member App Vetting Committee that will look at a paid app a week and fill out a Google Docs form consisting of various criteria.
At the school level (and this is in the beginning stages of planning so we may change this) we would like small groups of teachers to use the app vetting form to submit apps to us. This way, when someone tells us they want an app on all of the iPads to be deployed we can be assured that it has been thoroughly evaluated first.
We know this is an imperfect solution, but it is a step towards making this a more orderly procedure and we welcome comments and suggestions.
