Nut And Bolt

Students will follow the step by step 123d Design Nut and Bolt tutorial (using headphones) to gain more thorough tool use and application. Students may consult each other in small groups while completing this tutorial exercise. Students will export their finished Nuts and Bolts as two separate .stl files and put the in the printer queue for printing. Individual files will be placed on the same printer build plate so they are printed at the same time. Screen shots (at least 2 perspectives) will be included in their ePortfolio assignment page, along with 2 pictures of the printed piece.

Reflection: This project was really easy and fun! I enjoyed being able to create my own boat and being able to add my own little details. I look forward to the next project.

Weekly Update #6

This week I printed my boat! I made ores, and I spent ten minutes positioning them, but then I deleted them because I had to print them lying down and that would take too much work. I did however make life vests for my imaginary passengers though. I look forward to the next project, and I’m really excited to see Dana’s dog!

Reflection/Description: For my hybrid project I made a house with windows and doors. I had fun making my house and choosing where everything went. I look forward to the next project and hope that it is as fun and easy as this one.

Weekly Update #4

This week was very interesting. I learned how to use 123d Design, and I even helped Dana make her boat! I also helped Tommy. I am so proud of myself for helping people with computer things. I am never able to help people with things on the computer cause I never know how, but I knew how to help them this time. I am super excited for this weekend because my favorite aunt is visiting.

Life-like creature

Students will create 2 “creatures” using the 123d Creature App as an introduction to designing with the intent to print on a 3D printer. Students are expected to follow basic tutorial steps to learn Creature design basics – this includes making a basic creature form, sculpting, baking, and then painting their creature using the app tools (Note that Creatures to be 3D printed are not painted).

Here is my beautiful vase

Reflection: This was actually pretty easy to make. After I watched the video I totally understood how to do it, and I think I did it pretty well. The only thing I don’t like about it is how wide it is, but it adds character.

Weekly Update #3

This week I completed the bowl, the chair and the vase. The vase was surprisingly easy. I actually had more trouble trying to figure out the bowl than the vase. I had actually completed the bowl and the chair before winter break, but I didn’t take enough pictures for either of them, so I had to do both again.
