Homework: Start Looking for third and final commentary articles. Must be a new country and new newspaper. Key search terms: trade agreement, tariff, quota, subsidy, free trade, protectionism, duty.

Optional (OPTIONAL: due to snow days and need to finish IB commentaries before Spring Break) Trade Test on Wednesday March 20

  • Reasons for protectionism, reasons for international trade, quotas, tariffs, subsidies, dumping, infant industries, sunset industries, strategic securities argument, health and safety protection
  • Know and be able to label and explain quantities, prices, and revenue boxes for: Quotas, Subsidies, Tariffs, Free Trade
  • Exhange Rates: shifting curves, impacts of low/high exchange rate, possible intervention
  • Balance of Payments: Current account, Capital account
  • Terms of Trade: Impacts of deteriorating and improving ToT
