9th Graders: After an ice-breaker activity we shared out our Assignment #4 in our Lit Circles and as a class, which fueled discussion on character relationships. After, I introduced the Shadow Box assignment. Sh Box scoring guide

11th Grade: Today we began conversation on the immigrant perspective in preparation for our first novel of the year, My Antonia. Students read “The Lost Beautifulness”and discussed the author’s messages on democracy, privilege, challenges for women, and symbolism.
