Tues. 1/28 — “B” Day – Freshmen 9A and Sophomores 10C

FOR FRESHMEN:

Answer questions on writing essay for next class, review how to use quotations in an essay, and go over expected punctuation standards. Peer edit the rough drafts of a partner’s essay.

HWK: Bring final essay to class in MLA format with typed rough draft stapled to the back. Also, you’ve had over 2 weeks to work on a big dictionary assignment, and it’s due next class. But, as I told the class, I don’t want that assignment to detract from time for your essay. I also hated it when I was in school and worked hard to get an assignment done by the due date and then saw everyone else get extensions! So here’s what I’m going to do: If you turn in the vocab work tomorrow, you’ll get 10% extra credit. If it comes in on Friday, no problem — you just won’t get the extra credit.

Discussion of the novel

Partner work to answer questions on “Mariam’s Inner Conflict”

HWK: Read Chs. 18-22
