Dear Kelly Teachers,
I hope you all are doing well. It was really nice to see all of you in person last week. Chris Douma wins the “prize” for being the only teacher to be wearing shoes when John and I delivered the ice cream! Ha!
Anyway, here is the agenda for tomorrow‘s grading & professional development:
8:00 – 9:30 A.M. Attendance Entry Time (Enter student absences on Thursday May 14Friday is a non-attendance day-You can back date)
9:30 – 11:45 A.M. PLC–Discuss grading calibration and practices within your PLC group. Consider proficiency/demonstration of skill rather than “hard” percentages for completion of assigned tasks. Follow ODE guidelines to “hold harmless” and “build connections” with our students when assessing and reporting on student progress. Continue to manage Distance Learning For All challenges within your PLC group. Please send an invite to me and John.
12:15 – 4:00 pm Grading
For your information:
Staffing/Assignments
John and I are still working through the staffing process. My hope is to pin down answers from central office in the next few days before our staff meeting next Wednesday. Once we get definitive answers, we will start to calender dates and times with teachers to talk about assignments for next year. I appreciate your patience during this unprecedented time.
Packing/The move
Reminder you have until May 24 to pack and ready your classroom for the move or for summer cleaning. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you,
Juan & John

Happy Monday,

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. The weather was incredible! I spent the weekend with my kids and I was able to see my out of state relatives via Zoom. I appreciate technology during these unprecedented times. I imagine a lot of you did the same with your family and friends.

As we start remote learning today, something we have never done before, remember to be patient with yourself, give grace as you learn this new process. If you need technical help or if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask me or John. You can also reach out to your PLC leader. If you want me or John to join your Zoom advisory meeting invite us. We would be happy to be there for support.

Here is the MS Distance Learning for All Guidance. It is also posted under the KMS tab for future reference.

Have a great day, and remember to take care of yourself.

Best,

Juan

Friday, January 31, 2020 PD

Posted by: | January 29, 2020 | No Comment |

Hi all,

Here is the Agenda for Friday, January 31, 2020, PD-We will be starting in library.
Agenda:
8:00-9:30 PLC
9:30-9:45 Break
9:45-12:00 Book Study with Final Word Protocol
12:00-12:30 Lunch
12:30-4:00 Teacher Grading
Here are the details for Friday‘s sessions. For your PLC work time please get into your groups and everyone should bring their “Learning by Doing” text. We will provide photo copies of pages 47-50. You will start and complete the assessment from those pages first as an individual and then as a group. You will also read and discuss “tips” which are on pages 46, 51-52. The purpose of this exercise is to continue to move your PLC work together. Let me or John know where you will be meeting so that we can observe your process.
In order to get ready for the “Final Word” protocol, select a book–Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Brain or Poor Students Rich Teaching. Review the offered pages and select the book that best fits for your interest.
The CRTB group will engage with pages 66-68 (Stop, Observe, Detach, Awaken) and Chapter 7, page 108 by reading for the first part and then responding to at least two of the Invitation to Inquiry questions on page 120. This work will prepare you the Final Word protocol with your colleagues.
The PSRT group will engage Part 3, pages 63-69. Be prepared to engage with chapters 7,8, pages 71-86. This reading will prepare you for the Final Word protocol with your colleagues. We will provide a template for a two page writing task.
We will come back together in a circle and share the “two moves” you will implement or practice with your students on Monday, as a result of this book study.

Thank you,
Juan & John
