There’s No One Like You,
Someone that could feel so blue,
But keep a smile stapled to their cheeks.
It has been going on for weeks,
But what your babies don’t know
Is the tears you haven’t shown,
In order to keep them from drowning.
From the struggle pounding
At the door.
Their hungry stomachs you never ignore,
But what you try to ignore are the piles,
Bills for miles.
Trying to forget the man you once loved
Because you never thought that your beloved
Would leave you with two little faces,
Staring up you in places
You never thought you would go.
They didn’t know.
How hard you worked to fill your brain with knowledge
So that your children could go to college.
You showed your daughter
That she doesn’t need a man, no not her father
Made her feel so happy, yet so broken.
The home she never would have chosen.
Was perfect
And all the struggle was worth it.
Because she knew,
There was no one like you.
