You decided it would be best to look away. You listened to the officer strike your father. You could not believe the officer hit him just because of a question. Though you know what you can do and get away with, and you know what will lead you to getting in trouble. You knew talking back or reacting would lead to death.  Then and there you decided to just do what’s asked of you from then on that’s all you do. You continue this strategy for two years. You walked through two years of torture, starvation, and pain, and eventually made it out of the camps.
