the serpents 

slithering 

wrapping 

hissing 

sleek toxic bodies 

invading my eyes    mouth    ears

whispering their filthy secrets 

commanding my mouth

to speak their lies

distorting my notion of the truth

i want to cry for help

i want to reach out 

and grab reality by the hand 

but I’m trapped in the coils 

of jealousy
