Poetry

Here’s my assortment of all things poetry!

Giant Joy (Free Verse)

Joy bounds through the hills

Playing among the mountains as a giant

Yet only weighing a feather

She hears a small child crying

She searches and searches

She finds the child pinned down

By a heavy rock called Fear

She brushes the boulder aside

She scoops up the child and lifts her up

Together they touch the sky

Orb Weaver (Tanka)

The garden spider

Sits in her shimmering web,

A hypnotic eye.

She feels the threads tremoring

And leaves to ensnare the fly.

Age (Rhyming)

A little old lady sits on her porch.

She thinks about times long ago;

Times she was young,

Times her bones weren’t frozen by snow.

Thick clouds drift lazily through the sky,

And the flakes fall again today.

She stands up to go inside,

But a child calls her out to play.

A youthful light rises up inside her

As she turns and puts her warm coat on.

They build a snowman in the snow-covered grass.

The stiff cold in her joints is gone.
