I was born and raised in Austin, Texas and cherished every moment of my childhood under the hot Texas sun. I grew up loving all things outdoors: crabbing with my grandfather, going to baseball games with my Dad and swimming until I turned pruny and blue.

Being from Austin also meant my blood ran Longhorn orange and I realized a childhood dream by attending the University of Texas and graduating with a degree in Advertising. In 1985, I married the love of my life, Reid Ligon, and moved to Houston, starting my career off at Majic 102 FM Radio. From there, I was hired as a media buyer for Retail Concepts, which owned a chain of specialty sporting goods stores. Working my way up the ladder, I learned about all things Apple when I became a graphic designer for the company.

In 1990, we joyously welcomed our first child Amanda and in 1993 our second child, Tyler. After Amanda’s birth, I became a full time mom and loved every minute of it. In 1994, we moved to Naperville, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, and spent seven years enjoying snow, going to the fantastic museums, traveling and watching our children grow.

In 2001, we moved to Eugene where Tyler enrolled as a third grader at McCornack Elementary School and Amanda as a sixth grader at Kennedy Middle School. So I started out as a parent at McCornack long before I ever even thought of going back to work! 2004 rolled around with Tyler as a middle schooler, Amanda as a high schooler and me with a lot of time on my hands. McCornack’s then principal, Charlie Smith, offered me a job and I leaped at the chance.

Both my children are grown now. My husband Reid and I keep busy with his volunteer work as a scuba diver at the Oregon Coast Aquarium, traveling, diving wherever we can, hiking, kayaking, working in the yard and around the house, camping, reading, our dogs Dewey and Finn and just generally counting our blessings.
