Buchenwald was a concentration camp which was established in 1937. The prisoners were sent to work while the Nazis expected them to eventually die. Elie Wiesel and his dad were evacuated to Buchenwald where his dad was beaten to death. Later, the underground resistance captured the guards and the Americans came to liberate the camp
