Waiting took time and patience,
But she didn’t have time or patience
She gritted her teeth and dug her nails
Into her skin, down to the bone
She cursed a sin and ran out the door
Her footsteps fell heavy against
The floor.
In and out, inhale, exhale
Her fingernails released her skin
And she was calm yet again.
