Winter
Free Verse:
A cool breeze turns from a gift, to the norm
As the light falls from the sky sooner each night
And while some feel a certain sense of sadness,
A sensation of relief comes my way
Winter means less daylight
Which means I can go home, and avoid the world
Wandering the streets at night, too, is fun
Wherever you are is some place new at night
The warm is cherished in the winter, there is nothing better
Too many minutes of shivering to take it for granted
Thick jackets become the style,
Tall boots, and mittens too
Haiku:
Whispers of Whitefall
Short days, light leaves early now
Gray skies fill the world
Fall
Free Verse:
Change
From bright blue skies, to bright yellow ground
Spatters of orange, and burnt red.
Clouds above now, rain returns,
I welcome the cool nights
Family
From all around, comes together
Stories to be told.
The cold months invite those we love
To unite, one again
Trees
Slowly dropping their tops,
Becoming naked against the elements.
Some stay green
But all trees Fall
Haiku:
Slowly shifting world
The trees mark a clear contrast
Sunny days are scarce now
Spring
Free Verse:
From months of gray
Spring brings life anew
A flower, of course, a symbol of hope
After months of snow
Spring melts the cold
The rivers rush as never before
Suddenly now, the days grow longer
Providing a shot of adrenaline for all-
All who feel like the cold months will never end
Spring is hope,
Hope that summer will come
And that winter will fade
Haiku:
Finally bright days
Appear from the winter’s cold
And bring life anew
Summer
Free Verse:
Freedom feels like summer
The wind blowing through your shirt
Lifting you towards the warm spotlight above you
The world wakes up early on summer days
And for once,
I do too, without complaint
Summer brings us together,
A world, warm and bright
Just as the sun above it
Haiku:
Swimming in the sun
Watching the stars, bright above
Freedom is the word
