silver earrings
she hides
the way she really feels
behind ornamental decoration
nothing fake
about them but
nothing real
about them either
put them on to feel a little better
about insecurities she think she’s dealt with
insecurities she thinks she can hide
they’re still there
the insecurities
and the earrings
