Israel Armstrong, an underemployed English librarian, takes a job in rural northern Ireland, only to find that the library has been closed and all its 15000 books have disappeared. Everything goes badly for him as he tries to locate the missing books and come to terms with driving an ancient bookmobile. I’m not sure if I liked this book or not. Israel is a wimp and it’s hard to feel much sympathy for him. Still, the other characters are well drawn. The first in a series.
