Bike Works Description: Students will complete repairs on bikes with the intention to create a Connections Bike Loan Program. Students will inspect and assess work that needs to be completed on used bikes. Students will complete work such as replacing chains, repairing tires, installing brake pads, seatposts, pedals and kick stands. Students will write advertisements to sell bikes on Craig’s List or the classifieds.
Let’s Get Started:
- Each student will have an e-portfolio on Google Sites. If you currently do not have an e-portfolio on Google Sites, we will create one today. Your e-portfolio will be private. You will need to invite others to view your e-portfolio
- You will create a Bike Mechanics on your e-portfolio
- Your Bike Works Tab will feature instructions, videos, notes, etc for you to complete each day’s task
- Josh may post instructions/videos for you; you will also have the option of posting your own site
- You will also create A Bike Works Blog Tab
- Each class, you will type a blog entry of what you completed that day. Your blog entry may consist of written words pictures, and/or videos of you completing work in class
- The blog will serve as a record of what you completed in class.
- You will create a Bike Mechanics on your e-portfolio
- Each students will also set worksite goals on Goal Guide. Your goal guide will be updated at the end of each class. You will be able to post your metrics on your e-portfolio.

Dress For Success!
- Wear comfortable clothes that you can move, lift and crouch in
- Bikes can be dirty/greasy. Wear clothes that you won’t mind getting dirty.
Be Clean
- Shower
- Shave
- Do not have a strong smell
Check your ‘tude
- Smile
- Say “Hi” to other people who are working
- Be willing to work with others
- Be willing to complete any task
- Be Professional. Work hard your entire shift!
- Always make sure you give 100% effort even if you don’t like the task
- Have a Positive Attitude
- Accept feedback appropriately
Be On Time!
- Work Crew begins promptly at 10:00 am on Fridays. If you are going to be absent or late, please call Josh (541) 912-3618.
- Work Crew ends at 12:00 pm Friday. You are expected to stay the entire class. If you need to leave early, please notify Josh before class begins.
