Newsletter for Week of Feb. 29
The book fair is open before and after school this week! It’s a great way to build your family’s library and support our school. This Monday will be Family Night at the Book Fair from 6 to 8 pm. PAHS Parent Group Meeting will also be going on during the Book Fair from 6:30-7:30 pm.
This Monday and Tuesday, Artist in Residence, Laura Jackson will be back to work with students on glazing their pottery.
If you are interested in helping out the classroom, I could use some help Wednesday, Thursday and/or Friday mornings from 8-9:15 (math) or 9:15-11:00 (reading).
HOMEWORK: February reading calendars are due this Tuesday!
- 20 mimutes at home reading
- Memorize Lesson 19 high frequency words
- Study Lesson 19 spelling words and do spelling homework
- Optional: IXL, Raz Kids and Spelling City from Holt Home Page
What we’re learning this week:
MATH: Continuing our unit on graphing and data as a whole class. Our small groups are working on specific need-based skills.
READING: Blending words with the long o (show/coat) as we read a biography and about the importance of studying history. Our comprehension skills are sequencing, context clues and monitoring our reading.
WRITING: Future tense verbs, synonyms, writing neatly with proper conventions, Dr. Seuss writing
SCIENCE: Weather
Monday: Wear crazy socks, library check out, Family Night at Book Fair, PAHS meeting, spelling pre-test
Tuesday: Fluoride swish, wear black, white and red
Wednesday: Dr. Seuss Day, Wear Wacky Clothes Day, meet with our 4th grade buddies, early release
Thursday: Sneetch Day, PE
Friday: Fluoride Varnish, PE, last day of book fair, spelling post-test, HFW assessment
