Are you All In? You may have heard this question being asked across the North Eugene High School campus this year, but what does it mean?

The “All-In!” culture is more than just a catchphrase; it’s a commitment to fostering a sense of belonging, community and value among everyone at North Eugene. “All-In!” culture places a high value on respect, diversity, academic integrity, and honesty. This appears in the administration, teachers, coaches, students, sports, music, theater — all across the campus. This culture can be used to encompass all attitudes, expected behaviors, and values that impact how a school operates.

Principal Nain Muñoz, a driving force behind the “All-In!” culture, explains, “I have always believed that we all play a role everyday … If we are going to see change at this school then we all have to do it together.” How are we at NEHS going to spread the word? Riley Kempf, a senior at North, was interviewed on her feelings about the new slogan.

“I think (“All-In!” culture) is a really great new way for the school to get together and be one with each other,” she says.

She says to help get the new slogan into the school community, there needs to be posters, announcements, and check-ins during advisory as to what is and is not working. Teachers and administrators need to be seen talking about it and using the term daily.

“We need to keep pushing it out there,” Kempf says. “We’re all in this together, just like in ‘High School Musical!’”

What does this mean for our students? It means the expectations at and around NEHS have changed, with a special focus on the school spirit displayed by the student body.

Olivia Froehlich, a council member on ASB, says, “We are already seeing more students attending things such as volleyball and football games. … Students are really bringing their all this year.”

This level of involvement is exactly what she and the rest of ASB want to see. Such a response has encouraged them to push for more and more opportunities for students. All they ask of you in return is to show up and be a part of North Eugene during its most exciting era yet.

This new concept could really change how we feel about school. It’s about all of us working together no matter what grade you are in, who you are, or what you believe — we are All In this together. Hopefully, this newly adopted culture will be a positive addition to this school year.

So, now that you know, are you All In?
