Y’all, it’s the week before Spring Break and we’re lifting the mask mandate. I make no predications about what will happen this week, but please know we’re here if you need us.

Thank you, again, to all of our amazing Classified Staff! Madison wouldn’t be such an amazing place without you!

MADISON INFORMATION                       

  • Focus Slides:
    • Monday – Academic check
    • Tuesday – Games
    • Wednesday – Prepare students for the new 15-minute break between 2nd and 3rd periods, beginning after Spring Break.
  • Fire Drill will be Monday at noon

 

  • 15-Minute Break for Teachers, Coming Soon – Beginning after Spring Break, we will be starting to have a 15-minute block of time (rather than 5) between 2nd and 3rd periods, designed for students and teachers to have a short morning break. More details to come, next week, regarding implementation. As a result, the master bell schedule will be shifted a bit for tri 3 on M-Th.
                

DISTRICT INFORMATION                               

  • Masking & Covid Protocols Update: Masking will become optional in all public settings, including 4J schools, on Monday, March 14. Students and staff can continue to mask if they choose to, but it will not be required. Additionally, quarantining and contact tracing are no longer required either. Students and/or staff who test positive will still be required to isolate at home for 5 days if they test positive for Covid. All other requirements are lifted as of March 12.
        
  • Spring Break Meal Boxes: Families can sign up by March 14 to receive a free youth food box with 7 days of meals. Supplies are limited to 600 boxes and will be reserved on a first come, first serve basis. Please feel free to share this information with families:

      Pick up: 4J district office, 200 N. Monroe St. (drive around back)

  • Repeat: ACE Award Nominations: Nominations for the 2022 ACE Awards opens on Tuesday, March 1. Visit this link to nominate A Champion in Education. Nominations will close March 31 and the award ceremony will be held Tuesday, May 10 at 6pm.

PROFESSIONAL LEARNING AND OTHER INFORMATION       

  • Women’s History Month: Below are links to a few reading and video resources for Women’s History Month. I haven’t vetted all the links, so please ensure you preview the material if you’re going to share it with students.
    • Women’s History Month Daily Slides – A new slide each day with a brief summary of the accomplishments of a woman in history (info taken from biography.com). The slides appear to present a diverse group of historical figures.
    • Women’s History Month Reading/Video Room – Another broad representation of female historical (and current) figures.
    • Reading/Video Rooms – This collection includes many picture books about women in history.
    • Periodic Table of Women’s History – Geared toward older students, click on the different “elements” to open up categories like authors, athletes, scientists, and politicians. From there, choose a name to visit the kiddle.com site for that person.
