A big congratulations to Madison’s ACE Award Nominees, Mike and Jason! I know families definitely appreciate the hard work and efforts of ALL staff, especially during this time. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for you!

  • Grading – The three approved grades for trimester 3 are Pass (P), Incomplete (I), and Withdrawn (W). We had been using the “No Basis” language, however the decision has been made to use Incomplete instead. District guidance says if a student earns a 60% or higher in class, they earn a pass. However, given how subjective grades can be, please use your professional judgement when assigning grades. Attached here is the guidance for using Synergy to do grades.

  • Evaluations – The state board recently voted to suspend the reporting requirement for teachers this year due to the current pandemic. The district and EEA are working on an agreement about what this will mean for 4J. As this is evolving, we are pushing pause. However evaluations that were due in March before we closed down will still be completed. This includes all classified evaluations and those for our temporary/probationary teachers.

  • Job Expo Updates –  All of our open positions remain open. The next round of the job fair will be this Tuesday evening.

  • Summer Clean Out – Downtown is having schools begin “Phase II” of closing out for the school year and packing up so custodial staff can begin summer cleaning. The request is to have your room ready by May 22, but please contact Peter if that date isn’t feasible for you. Please email Peter and Jim when you are coming into the building to prep your room. While in the building, please follow the required social distancing guidelines including entering through the office, signing in, and maintaining distance from others. Gloves and masks are not required and you may bring help, but continue following social distancing requirements.

Here is the Staff Check Out 2020 document with more information about preparing your classroom for summer, checking out your technology, and other info.

  • Technology Support for Families – The Tech Dept is asking teachers to share the following information with families:

Technology Support for Families

Website with documentation and quicksheets
https://technologysupport.4j.lane.edu

Support Request Form
https://technologysupport.4j.lane.edu/student-support/

Families should feel free to continue emailing or leaving a voicemail with 4J Tech Support, but the above link will get the fastest response. The most common support solutions will be in PDF form and linkable from the above website.

  • District Admin Updates – Dan Sterling, principal at Holt Elementary School, will be retiring at the end of the school year. This position is posted for internal and external applicants. Trinity Welch-Radabaugh has been named interim principal at North Eugene when Iton departs. Trinity has been assistant principal at North for three years and previously served as an assistant principal in Corvallis.
