It’s Classified School Employees Appreciation Week. Many thanks to our incredible classified staff. Your hard work and dedication, which often goes above and beyond what is expected, helps make Madison such a great school. We appreciate and thank you for all you do every day!!!

  • Sign of the Week: As soon as the video is ready for this week, I’ll post it here.

  • Request for Active Hallway Supervision: We’ve had a rough few weeks and have seen an increase in altercations in the hallways. We know it’s hard to get out there, but we would appreciate all the help we can get to keep halls calm, especially at the beginning and end of the day. Many thanks, team!

  • Play Performances This Week: We will run a Friday schedule on Tuesday and Thursday this week. All students will report to their Focus classrooms at 2:35. On Tuesday, 7th and 8th graders will take attendance, then head to the cafeteria for the performance. 6th grade will stay in Focus for the hour. On Thursday we will switch so 6th grade goes to the performance and 7th and 8th stay in Focus. There should be enough time at the end of the day for kids to go back to class to pick up their things. They don’t need to bring anything with them to the cafeteria. Here is the link to the seating chart.

  • Anne’s Schedule – Anne will be teaching Naviance on Thursday in 8th grade Science classes. She will also be out this Friday and next Monday and Tuesday. (Sorry for the language below, but it fits our amazing Anne!)
  • Staffing Update: We received our SPED allocations for next year, which like the rest of our allocations, looks just like this year. The Student Investment Act (SIA) funding, which would provide us with a 6.5 hour behavior EA and more certified staffing to reduce class sizes, will be reviewed by the board on March 4. On March 5 we will be notified if we are likely to receive more FTE and, if so, how much. We will then be asked to make two staffing plans – one that includes the increased funding and one that does not. On March 18, the board will vote on the funding plan and we will know the morning of March 19 which staffing plan we should submit. Our plans are due by 11:59pm on March 19. Please let Peter or me know if you have any ideas about staffing scenarios.

  • Repeat: FastBridge Report Training, March 5  – The district is holding a FastBridge Reports training in our building on March 5. It will likely start around 4 or 4:15, but I don’t have confirmation of that yet. The training is geared for our staff, but they will be inviting other staff from around the district to attend as well.

  • Repeat: March 13 Professional Development Day – Below is all the information for the upcoming professional development day. Linked here is the agenda. The first page details the schedule for certified staff and pages 2-4 detail the offerings for classified staff.

      • 10:30am-1:30pm: Travel time, lunch, and teacher prep time
      • 1:30pm-4:00pm: School-based meetings and/or building-based PD

    • Technology PD for Certified Staff – Teachers who don’t have a specific work group to attend, will attend tech training at Roosevelt. This will be run in an “unconference” model. Here’s the description from the agenda: Using an “unconference” format, teachers will gather at grade levels and begin with whole-group brainstorming, then move into discussion sessions by grade level and/or subject groupings led by a facilitator. PROCESS: In whole-group sessions participants move through a brainstorming process to create a list of topics and breakout sessions based on the group’s interests. Topics will then be assigned to sessions in classrooms. Sessions are discussion-based, where participants actively contribute their experience to develop collective expertise. Participants can move between sessions if they find interest in multiple sessions.
