P. D. Updates
We work very hard to provide excellent elementary instruction in our district. Each year we focus our school improvement resources on key areas from our School Improvement Plan. Below is our professional development plan for the 2012-13 school year. This is an evolving document. Check back on it often as the year goes on.
This year, our school improvement efforts will continue to focus on three key areas: mathematics instruction, writing instruction and technology integration. With the Common Core being adopted in Oregon, there is much interest in how it will change our focus in the building and the district. We have the opportunity to work together during the year to further our understanding and skills. We will also be using our staff meetings, professional development days, and collaboration time to support these efforts. This year, our district is also paying special attention to increasing collaboration. We will be following a collaboration model that emphasizes lesson study, error correction, and the work of Jon Saphier.

Date School Improvement Focus
August 30, 2012 2012 Kickoff Conference
The district is holding a conference-style event for this year’s back-to-school staff gathering on August 30. Plan to be there! All staff working on August 30 are expected to attend this important professional development. Schools and offices will be closed to allow staff to attend. Guest teachers and classified staff who are not scheduled to work on August 30 are welcome to attend the kickoff on their own time if they wish.
