Tom Buchanan is Daisy’s absurdly wealthy husband. He comes from old money and lives in a huge mansion in East Egg. There are a lot of things to be said about Tom, most of them are bad. He’s strong, arrogant, aggressive, and is the kind of guy that gets what he wants. He’s a lying cheat on top of all of it. He is having an affair with Myrtle Wilson, a married woman who lives in the Valley of Ashes. Daisy is aware of the affair, but Tom is so dominant that it doesn’t matter. He suspicious of Gatsby and Daisy at first and when he finds out the truth things go sideways. He’s a very dangerous man when it comes to not getting his way. Tom is disinterested in his daughter. All in all, you do not want to piss this guy off or make any sort of move on his wife. Apparently only he gets to be unfaithful.
