Hi Everyone,

Just five items of note for this week:

• KMS Japanese language and culture presentation – The Kelly MS 8th grade Japanese teacher, Miiko Suzuki, has let me know that each year 8th grade YG students have come over to Howard to present hands-on Japanese culture and language demonstrations. They are hoping to conduct several stations for teaching various aspects of Japanese culture and the language to our students. She is looking for a classroom to give their presentations to on Friday, May 17th or May 24th from around 9:00-10:10. If you are interested, please let me or Miiko know by this Friday.

• iBook Author Training, Thursday at 3:00 – A reminder that Kim Ketterer will be providing us with a Howard only training on iBook Author with Thursday at 3:00 in Room 6. This app is what people use to create books for all ages that they can read on electronic devices. And if you are attending the training, you MUST have David install and upgrade your operating system, the cost of which Kim K. is paying for.

• Maximizing a Student Teacher’s Learning – For those of you with student teachers or will in the future, here is a quick two page list on how to maximize their learning in your classroom.

• LaneKids Poster Contest – LaneKids is having a poster contest for kids up to age 12 with prizes around the poster theme “I know my parents love me because…”. Although I question how inclusive that theme is for all students, I did want to share at least about LaneKids, which is a parenting education hub grant-funded through the Oregon Community Foundation. The Lane ESD is a partner and they have a really good web site that’s worth sharing.
