Hello Everyone,

I wanted to take a moment to recognize two of our teachers who have been recently honored. Shelly Silver has been recognized by the Emerald Empire Reading Council for her literacy work as an educator. Also, Allison Krieder was recently nominated for an ACE Award, the ceremony for which will be at the Hult Center this Tuesday, with a reception in the lobby at 5:00 PM and the ticketed ceremony beginning at 6:00 PM. Thank you both for all of your work and efforts!

Five items of note for this week:

• UO Dragon Puppet Assembly, 4/25 – A repeat from Shelly’s email a few weeks ago, but Thursday, April 25th is the UO Dragon Puppet assembly. Grades 2-5 will have their assembly from 9:00-9:30. Grades K-1 will have their assembly right after from 9:40-10:10. See the attached assembly maps (K-1 Map, 2-5 Map) for logistical details.

• Informal Drop In Meeting with Board Members, 4/26 – Join 4J School Board members for informal conversation this Friday, April 26th, 4-5 p.m. Board members will hold the first of a weekly time for conversation with teachers, staff, and families at Countryside Pizza, 645 River Road. Board members will be available in the back meeting room of the restaurant.

• Earth Day, April 22nd – Schools across the country will be celebrating Earth Day on Monday, April 22. Teach your students how to care about their world — and how they can make it better! — throughout the year with these resources and downloads.

• Inspirational Video – If you’re looking for a bit of inspiration, here is a video of the first Boston Bruins game since the Boston Marathon tragedy. I’m not typically one who is moved by the national anthem, but this one got to me. There’s also a professionally edited version of the event too, but this amateur video gets me more.
